Brand Identity

Brand identity that holds together everywhere it lands

What does brand identity work at Web Interactive cover?

Our brand identity work gives a business a coherent visual system: a logo, a typographic choice, a color palette, and the rules for using them, designed so the brand reads clearly at every size from a favicon to a billboard. Because we also build the website, the identity is made to live online, not just sit in a static guidelines PDF.

Identity designed for where it actually lives

A brand today lives first on screens: a website, a social avatar, an email signature, an app icon, a favicon barely sixteen pixels wide. A logo that only works as a large print mark and falls apart at small sizes or on a dark background is a liability in that world. We design identities for the screen-first reality, testing the mark small, in motion, and in context, so it stays legible and recognizable everywhere it appears.

That does not mean ignoring print or the physical world; a strong identity should work on a sign and a business card too. It means we do not design a beautiful artifact that breaks the moment it meets a real browser. The test of an identity is not how it looks framed on a wall, it is how it holds up across the dozens of small, unglamorous places a brand actually shows up.

A system, not just a logo

A logo on its own is not a brand identity. The identity is the whole system: the logo and its variations, the typefaces and how they are set, the color palette and where each color is used, the spacing and proportion, and the supporting elements that make a layout feel like yours and no one else's. A coherent system is what lets a brand look consistent across a website, a deck, an ad, and an invoice without a designer recreating it each time.

We deliver that system in a form you can actually use, with clear, practical guidance rather than a thick document nobody opens. Because we build websites, we are especially careful that the identity translates into real, working web styles: web-safe and self-hostable type, accessible color contrast, and rules that a developer can implement faithfully. An identity that cannot be built is only half done.

Built straight into the website

The biggest advantage of doing identity and website together is that nothing is lost in translation. When a separate agency designs a brand and hands a PDF to whoever builds the site, the result is often a website that only loosely resembles the guidelines. We close that gap by carrying the identity directly into the build, so the site is the truest expression of the brand rather than a watered-down version of it.

It also makes both stronger. Designing the identity with the website in mind keeps the brand grounded in how it will really be used, and designing the website from a settled identity gives it a coherence that ad-hoc styling never achieves. You can engage us for identity alone, website alone, or both, but the two together is where the work is most seamless.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you design logos and full brand identities?
Yes. We design logos as part of a full identity system that includes typography, color, spacing, and usage rules, because a logo alone is not a brand. We can also refine an existing identity rather than start from scratch. The goal is a coherent system that holds together everywhere your brand appears, especially online.
Can I get a brand identity without a full website?
Yes. You can engage us for identity work on its own, and we will deliver a system you can hand to any competent developer or use across your materials. That said, doing the identity and the website together is where the work is most seamless, since we implement the brand directly into the build with nothing lost in translation.
Will the identity work online and in print?
We design screen-first, because that is where most brands now live, but a strong identity should also work in print and the physical world, and we account for that. We test the mark small, on dark backgrounds, and in context, and we make sure the type and color choices are both accessible online and reproducible in print.
What do you deliver at the end of brand identity work?
A usable system: the logo and its variations in the right formats, the chosen typefaces and how to set them, the color palette with guidance on use, and clear, practical rules, rather than a thick document nobody reads. When we also build the site, much of this is implemented directly in the site's styles so it stays live and consistent.
Can you refresh our existing brand rather than replace it?
Often that is the right call. If your brand has equity worth keeping, we can modernize and systematize it, fixing what does not work online, tightening the type and color, and producing the rules and assets you are missing, without throwing away recognition you have already built. We will be honest about whether a refresh or a rebuild serves you better.
